This page is supposed to be “About Me” but I wouldn’t be who I am today and I would not have this blog if it were not for selfless friends and colleagues. These generous, helpful people are mentioned below.

My name is Babis Gakis and I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa. I was brought up Greek and speak it fluently. I have been living in the UK for about 13 years now.

I am a successful software developer, investor and business owner. My business is UK based in partnership with an award winning British PLC listed on the London Stock Exchange, and part of the FTSE 250 index.

I love riding my Triumph Sprint ST 1050 motorcycle, reading personal development books, mixing and associating with positive people through my business, investing on the stock market, travelling, updating my blog, watching movies, washing my motorcycle and car, photography and tinkering with my PC. I have built a few PCs for myself, helped friends, family and neighbours customise and order their own PCs, helped them set up their broadband connections, broadband routers, Internet security and email.

The aim of this blog is to educate, enrich, inspire and amuse anyone who is interested in improving their life for the better.

Demitri Baroutsos is not my friend, he is more like a brother to me. We have grown up together, and although I now live in the UK and he lives in South Africa, I still find myself very close to him. He has selflessly given up many hours to help me set up this blog through the early hours of the morning until late at night; putting up with me changing my mind and dreaming up new domain names for my business; hosting my blog on his US servers. He has explained to me how to run a blog since I did not understand what it was all about and wondered why on earth he put all those posts up on his all the time. I get it now boet, and I have found a purpose for it, so thank you! I love it! If you ever need any development work done such as a new website with a fantastic back end database, such as SQL Server, or web hosting, then you know who to contact!

George Traganidas is a thoroughbred Greek from Athens working with me in London. He is a highly qualified and proficient software developer that I met through my job in London. He enjoys stock market investment and is also a successful landlord. I have not known George as long as Demitri but he has really opened up my eyes by introducing me to Robert Kiyosaki and his Rich Dad Poor Dad books. I wish I had read them when I left school but they have already benefitted me immensely and encouraged me to start my own business in order to diversify my income away from my job. I was in awe of Warren Buffett before meeting George, as are many people I think, but George is a true disciple of Mr Buffett’s. We also share ideas about investments regularly and also from the Motley Fool Stock Advisor newsletter, which can be found here, that covers US shares. I had a decent 2009 – 2010 as a result.
